Miguel A. Ariza MD, FACE, ECNU

Medical Director, Diabetes and Endocrine Center

Dr. Miguel Ariza is board certified in Endocrinology and is accepting new patients. He completed his fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition, as well as his residency in Internal Medicine at Boston University Medical Center in Boston, MA. He received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. Dr. Ariza achieved Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasonography from the American College of Endocrinology.

Dr. Ariza has clinical interest is general endocrinology with particular focus on diabetes, thyroid disease, and thyroid cancer management.

Dr. Ariza currently serves as a member of the New England chapter of the America Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and will be serving as the President of the association for the period of 2019-2020.


 

Shilpa Deshmukh, MD

Dr. Shilpa Deshmukh is a board-certified Endocrinologist and is accepting new patients. She completed her fellowship training in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism at University of Massachusetts, Chan Medical School. Prior to that she worked as a hospitalist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. While at Harvard, Dr. Deshmukh also completed a Master’s in clinical investigation where she gained expertise in designing and conducting clinical trials. She has completed her Internal Medicine residency at Lincoln Hospital, Weil Cornell Medical College in New York.

Her clinical interests include general endocrinology with particular focus on osteoporosis and Ultrasound guided thyroid nodule biopsies.


 

Naaznin Lokhandwala, MD

Dr. Naaznin Lokhandwala is board certified in Endocrinology and is accepting new patients. She has clinical interest is general endocrinology, including but not limited to diabetes, osteoporosis, thyroid dysfunction, and PCOS.. She has been in practice since 2002. Born in Portland Oregon, she moved to Pakistan when she was twelve years old, graduated medical school Valedictorian from Aga Khan University Hospital in 1993, returned for her residency at Beth-IsraeI Deaconess Medical Center, Boston MA and Endocrine Fellowship at Lahey Clinic. She has served as an Endocrinologist, Diabetes specialist in private practice, as Academic Faculty and in a State institution. She spent a 2 year Sabbatical in South Asia from 2009 to 2011 working on diabetes care, health and wellness. She has attempted to leverage the strengths in each community she has served and recognized the unique challenges in each community as well. Her trans-global experiences have taught her the importance of contextual health care especially in treating a chronic disease like diabetes. She is deeply committed to patient empowerment through education, financially sustainable health solutions and preservation of health & wellness to optimize quality of life and personal productivity.  

She is fluent in English, Hindi and Urdu language.


Harpreet Kaur, NP

Harpreet is a board certified Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. She completed Masters in Nursing degree from Boston college in 2017. She also completed endocrinology certification from Duke University in 2021. Harpreet has been in health care for the last 20 years in different aspects of the field.

Helping patient to improve their diabetes by understanding them from different perspective and manage at goal is one of the most rewarding job.

Harpreet is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi language.


Charmy Patel, NP

Charmy is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She graduated from UMass Lowell with both her Bachelors and Masters of Science in Nursing. Prior to joining DEC, she worked as a medical surgical nurse on a post operative orthopedic and neurology floor. She also worked at CVS Minuteclinic as a nurse practitioner treating patients across the lifespan for acute and chronic illnesses. Noticing the gap in care and to connect the bridge for patients newly diagnosed with diabetes.

Charmy’s goal is to empower patients to live healthy lives by providing holistic care encompassing diabetes technology, healthy meal planning, activity, and medication management.

During her free time, Charmy likes to spend it with her family, reading, and running.


Kerry Watroba, NP

Kerry is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner.  She completed an accelerated Masters in Nursing degree from Simmons College in Boston in 2011.  Prior to earning her MSN she worked as a nurse in an outpatient endocrinology clinic where she developed her interest in diabetes education.

Kerry’s experience as a diabetes educator allows her to deliver high level individualized patient care.  As a provider, her goal is to improve health outcomes for patients by combining lifestyle management with advances in diabetes treatment and technology.

She grew up in Lowell and lives in Chelmsford with her husband and three children.  She enjoys hiking and days at the beach.


OUR EDUCATION AND NUTRITION TEAM

Brittany Eramo, RN BSN, CDE

Brittany graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  Her nursing experience includes several years in direct patient care and case management in an outpatient rehabilitation facility. She also has inpatient experience on cardiac floors at Lawrence General Hospital and Lowell General Hospital. She worked for two years at Endocrinology Associates of Lowell, and she joined the Diabetes Management Center of Lowell General Hospital in 2015.

Brittany is passionate about her work in the world of diabetes, as she has experience managing her own Type 1 diabetes since she was 4 years old. She enjoys bringing her knowledge and first-hand experience, with diabetes, to her patients. She helps to motivate her patients while emulating success, one can have even while living with diabetes.
